From New York to Borneo, passing through the Sahara
Collectors of Sarreguemines faience, many of whom are in the United States, but also in Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland, are spread over several continents. Pieces of Sarreguemines faience can also be found in the most remote regions of the world.
A little perspicacity is usually enough to discover a number of restaurants, butchers, fishmongers and other places which still have a decor or functional and decorative objects in faience.

A
French engineer on holiday in Borneo
discovered a cup among the Dayaks: it probably reached this tribe
through a succession of bartering
transactions. About ten years ago,
another cup was found in Mozambique during an excavation. In Morocco
at the beginning of the century,
a correspondent of the Sarreguemines
Museum bought a batch of seventy pieces from the Tuaregs.
Faience objects have thus travelled far and wide. Pieces can also be admired in the New-York Metropolitan Museum, in Budapest in Hungary, and even in a theatre in Rio de Janeiro, and the inventory is far from complete...
But there is no need to travel such distances to appreciate the work of the Sarreguemines craftsmen.
A little perspicacity is usually enough to discover a number of restaurants, butchers, fishmongers and other places which still have a decor or functional and decorative objects in faience.
